In August 2026, ValeCap acted as exclusive financial advisor to European Energy in securing a € 243 million project finance package for the construction of Project Vizzini, a 225 MW AgriPV single-asset project located in the region of Sicily representing the largest agrivoltaic solar park ever developed in Europe at the time of the financing.
European Energy is a leading fully integrated pan-European operator, active in the development, construction and operation of renewable energy plants, having consolidated a strong track record in multiple technologies including, amongst others, solar PV, wind and battery energy storage systems.
The project is based on an agrivoltaic model that combines renewable energy generation with the continuation of agricultural activities and sheep grazing on the same land. Once operational, the plant is expected to generate approximately 405 GWh of renewable electricity per year, an amount equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 135,000 households.
Project Vizzini is supported by a 20-year contract-for-difference feed-in-tariff, awarded under the Transitional FER X incentive scheme, which ensures long-term stable and predictable cashflow generation.
The financing package was provided by a pool of lenders, including Crédit Agricole, Intesa Sanpaolo, Nord LB and Société Générale.
This milestone transaction, Italy’s largest single-asset photovoltaic project financing to date, strengthens ValeCap’s position as a leading energy-transition advisor promoting the growing role of large-scale solar projects in expanding Italy’s renewable-energy capacity and advancing its long-term decarbonisation goals.
