In July\u202f2024<\/strong>, ValeCap<\/strong> acted as exclusive financial and model advisor<\/strong> to Sunprime Group<\/strong> on the successful closing of a EUR\u202f204\u202fmillion<\/strong> long-term financing package for the construction of a 220\u202fMW greenfield solar photovoltaic portfolio<\/strong> across Italy. This complex transaction \u2014 jointly underwritten by the European Investment Bank (EIB)<\/strong> and Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking<\/strong> \u2014 represents one of the largest construction financings for a highly fragmented solar portfolio ever executed in the Italian market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The portfolio consists of more than 100 projects<\/strong>, including both rooftop and ground-mounted installations, with an average capacity of about 1.5\u202fMW<\/strong> per project. Once fully operational, the plants are expected to generate approximately 275\u202fGWh annually<\/strong>, equivalent to the energy needs of over 105,000 households<\/strong>, and to avoid around 2.35\u202fmillion tonnes of CO\u2082 emissions<\/strong> over their lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunprime is a leading Italian independent power producer specialising in the development, construction, and operation of solar PV assets. As of July\u202f2024, the company managed over 180\u202fMW of operational capacity and was backed by Noy Infrastructure & Energy Investment Fund, with USD\u202f2.5\u202fbillion in assets under management, and Nofar Energy, a Tel Aviv-listed renewable energy developer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EIB is the European Union\u2019s lending arm, providing finance and expertise for sustainable investment projects that contribute to EU policy objectives.
Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking (Natixis CIB) is a global financial institution offering advisory, financing, capital markets, and investment solutions, with a strong track record in renewable energy and infrastructure transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around 65% of revenues<\/strong> are expected to come from projects benefiting from the FER\u202f19 and FER x CfD incentive scheme<\/strong>, providing stable long-term cash flows. The remaining 35%<\/strong> will be generated through a combination of long-term power purchase agreements and merchant market sales, ensuring a diversified and resilient revenue profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facility has a 20-year tenor<\/strong> and a 2.5-year availability period<\/strong>, enabling staged drawdowns, in different tranches, in line with project milestones from Ready-to-Build to completion. The financing qualifies as a Green Loan<\/strong> under the Loan Market Association\u2019s Green Loan Principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
